If one is leaking, the others will not be far behind. The air spring assembled on top of the strut is commonly referred to as an air strut. The ride height sensor is a moving part, and like all moving parts, they will eventually wear out. When the air suspension starts leaking, the compressor/pump starts working harder to try to keep the system inflated. By the time air suspension leaks down completely, sitting the vehicle on its tires, the compressor will either have failed or be well on its way to full failure. The solenoid regulates the air pressure for each air bladder. Solenoids start to leak as they wear out causing the vehicle to sag or to lean.

This will cause the ride height sensor to send a signal to activate the compressor in an attempt to inflate the air suspension and level out the vehicle. This excessive work load will eventually lead to total failure of the compressor. Be sure to replace the O-rings when repairing any air suspension system. Suspension Failure Signs You want to properly diagnose a failed air suspension system when it is still leaking or going bad, instead of waiting until total failure is obvious. The most noticeable is an uneven height difference between different sides of the S430.

It might be sagging in the rear or front end but inflated in the opposite end. This gives the illusion the sedan is squatting down lower than usual. Perhaps there is just a slight lean from one side to another. If you notice any issue with your S430 reaching and maintaining its appropriate ride height then a bad suspension is the most likely suspect. Confirm this by looking for an illuminated suspension warning light or message on the instrument panel.

Check the air compressor for signs it is not working- a bad suspension can cause it to wear out. Alternatively, if the air compressor is very loud and noticeably noisy then it is running too often- another indicator the suspension is failing. (but that doesnt include replacing electronic components that are known to fail such as the height sensors).

(but that doesn't include replacing electronic components that are known to fail such as the height sensors). We are The Suspension Experts, so we know every detail about the wide variety of parts that make up the faulty air suspension system on your Benz S430. It can be very expensive to take it to the dealership every time one of those parts needs a repair.

We came up with an affordable and high-quality solution that eliminates the dependency on all these parts to function properly and in sync, forever. This air to non-air suspension conversion kit includes four pre-assembled coil-over struts that use high-quality coil springs. This is the only kit on the market that uses performance-driven springs! Most of our customers chose the conversion kit when choosing between an air vs non-air suspension system because of the low price.

On this page, we compare three different costs: that of repairing your air suspension system at the Mercedes-Benz dealership, that of installing aftermarket air suspension parts on your S430 individually, and that of getting rid of the faulty air ride headache for good by installing a Strutmasters coil spring suspension conversion kit. 2203205013, 220320501380, 2203202238, 2203201438, 220320223880, 2203202138, 2203201338, 220320213880, 220320213889, 2203205613, 2203209213, 2203206213, 2203209013, 2203201813, 220320561380, 220320921380, 220320621380, 2203206013, 2203209113, 2203206113, 2203208913, 220320911380, 2203200913, 220320601380, 220320611380, 2203201838, 220320183880, 2203201738, 220320173880.
